Drinking Water Long Term Monitoring
In March 2022 the Navy began a two year long-term monitoring program, which will collect 7,800 samples from homes, schools, child development centers, other buildings and hydrants throughout the distribution system. Long-term monitoring is planned over 7 Periods and a Stage 5 data summary report with an overview of what was found will be posted at the end of each Period. Additionally, specific results from each location in this zone are posted monthly with their corresponding time period.

Waiawa Shaft PFAS Data
Since December 3, 2021, the Navy water distribution system has been sourced only by the Waiawa shaft. Water from the Waiawa shaft, located 6.2 miles from Red Hill, remains safe and is monitored under the interagency-approved long-term monitoring plan for the Navy water distribution system to ensure it meets DOH and EPA standards for safe drinking water.

Emergency Response
In December 2021, as an emergency response to contamination in the water system, the Navy began execution of the Drinking Water System Recovery Plan, which was approved by the Hawaii Department of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency. The plan involved 5 Stages of recovery, distribution system flushing, distribution system sampling, home and building flushing, home and building sampling, and long-term monitoring. All of the data summaries and results from Stages 1-4 are posted in this section for public awareness.
